Throughout 2023, we have been celebrating the Avalon’s centennial year, 20th year as a nonprofit, and 10th year of offering film education to students across Washington, DC. 

The Avalon is proud to be a cultural and historic landmark, and one of the last original neighborhood theaters. This year’s Avalon Annual Fund will allow us to continue delivering Cinema Magic during 2024 and beyond.

The Avalon offers unique film experiences, including first runs of award winning and critically acclaimed commercial films along with programs that showcase:

• Foreign and independent films
• Documentaries
• Cinematic immersion into the world’s best loved art, music, and live theater
• Films that focus on social justice and human rights issues for 6th-12th grade students throughout Washington, DC
• Q&As with filmmakers

These exceptional programs are only made possible with help from our community.

Your generous support allows us to continue to develop unique film programs, fulfill our social and environmental responsibilities, and both maintain and improve our historic building.

Though deeply appreciated, your 100% tax-deductible donation does not confer membership at the Avalon. Avalon members receive great benefits like discounts on tickets and concessions and discounts at neighborhood businesses.
